Janet Webb, president of Big Creek Lumber Co., Davenport, CA., has been honored as 2024 Farmer of the Year by the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau.

The award was presented June 15 at the Bureau’s 107th annual meeting.

In 2009, Webb succeeded her father and company co-founder, Lud McCrary—the 1988 Farmer of the Year—who passed away in August.

A 1983 graduate of Humboldt State University, Webb previously worked for Big Creek as a registered professional forester.

She is noted for building trust and working relationships between Big Creek Lumber and local conservation groups, which has led to several partnerships. She has held seats on the boards of several organizations, such as the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau, California Redwood Association, and the California Forestry Association.

With her husband, Steve, she also manages a cow-calf operation and ranchlands.
