The California Redwood Association is one of the oldest trade associations in the United States. For over 100 years it has provided lumber suppliers, landscape architects, contractors and homeowners with information on the grades, uses and application of redwood lumber. They specialize in design ideas, project plans and technical specifications.
Last year, CRA began an exciting transition to set the course for the next several years. It appointed Hauck & Associates, Inc. to provide full association management services to the organization. Brian Mandrier, senior vice president of Hauck & Associates, will serve as CRA’s executive director. The new headquarters is located in Healdsburg, Ca., which is right in the middle of Northern California redwood territory.
“Hauck brings plenty of quality experience in the association management field and will be able to guide the California Redwood Association for many years to come,” said CRA past president Charlie Jourdain.
CRA has just announced new memberships are available for 2018 with new membership categories, revamped by-laws, and a new board of directors slated to begin work in second quarter 2018.
Throughout its history, membership in the CRA was limited to a small number of large manufacturers. Today the association is seeking to significantly broaden membership to include those manufacturers in addition to remanufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, forest landowners, and any associated or affiliated business seeking value in a consolidated redwood industry.
Members will receive their logo, company description, and contact information on the CRA Redwood Locator. Members of the CRA will now have their own dedicated website along with the consumer-focused website.
The main focus of the CRA will be to continue to provide the redwood community a place to come together to share ideas and promote redwood.
The CRA will continue to promote the many advantages of using redwood. Its long-lasting beauty, dimensional stability, and natural durability (naturally resistant to decay and insects) continue to make it a favorite material for builders, in addition to its lightweight but strong in nature, ease in nailing, sawing and drilling. Redwood is also one of the best softwoods for holding stains, paints and other coatings. Also, it can be restored repeatedly with minimal cost and effort along with significant environmental advantages over composite decking. California redwood also meets strict fire codes.
