Coast Wood Preserving, Ukiah, Ca., has ceased treating operations after 47 years and sold its property to a redeveloper.

A month prior, 32-year-old sister company Cal Coast Wholesale Lumber was merged into Coast Wood, following the April death of president Joyce Logsdon, who was 99.

Secretary/treasurer Gene Pietila will stay on as a consultant to the new owners until the fall, as the plant equipment is liquidated and the site repurposed. Pietila has been with Coast since the early 1970s, leaving in 1981 to help Mike Logsdon launch Fontana Wood Preserving, and returning in 1995 to become Coast’s third and final manager.
