Within days of each other, US LBM closed on two more acquisitions of large multi-location dealers—five-unit Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber Co. in Iowa and four-unit Jennings Builders Supply & Hardware in western North Carolina.
For more than 165 years, Gilcrest/Jewett has been known as Iowa’s “home building headquarters,” operating four retail yards, along with a truss and component plant, serving the Des Moines, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids metro areas.
The entire Gilcrest/Jewett leadership team will remain with the company, including Sumner Worth, who will serve as president and general manager, and Rick Thompson, who will serve as senior vice president of sales.

Founded in 1984, Jennings Builders Supply & Hardware stocks a full range of building materials, providing its customers with a one-stop-shop solution for custom home building and remodeling projects. In addition to supplying building professionals with windows, decking, flooring, cabinetry, siding, lumber and engineered wood products, Jennings also provides customers with added value services, including design, installation and custom woodwork and interior doors.
