For the fourth year in a row, Hancock Lumber, Casco, Me., has been named one of the 2017 Best Places to Work in Maine.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The final list is made up of 80 companies in three size categories, with Hancock honored in the large company division.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine inclusion. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated firm’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second part, worth 75% of the total evaluation, consisted of direct employee feedback to measure their workplace experience.Established in 1848, Hancock is a sixth generation, family-owned business with 490 employees at its timberlands division, sawmills, and retail lumberyards and showrooms.
