Eight-unit HPM Building Supply, Hilo, Hi., has acquired Miyake Concrete Accessories’ four building supply stores and one truss plant on Maui.
HPM will rebrand the new locations as Miyake – HPM Building Supply, hire additional staff, and expand services and product lines.
Former owner David Miyake, 73, who bought the business in 1979, will retire.
With the deal, Miyake’s 35 workers will become HPM owner-employees, with 12 to 15 more to be hired, including sales clerks, truck drivers and warehouse staff.
HPM will integrate merchandising, systems and operations at the Miyake stores through the end of this year. All locations will remain fully operational during the transition period with no anticipated interruptions.
